Express34 and CardBus Host Cards
Looking for top quality Express34 and Cardbus cards? Finally,
speed and power comes to portable computers with high speed Express34 slots on
new notebook computers.
We are contantly on the look out, testing and looking for best performance products
to add to this list. If you don't see it here, send me an email and
we'll see
what we can do.
In
Express34
SATA
Host
Cards there
are quite a few brands out there. All of them are basically the same though.
Built on
the same Silicon Image chipset and using the same drivers and branded with a
different sticker. In testing they all appear to give the same great results.
These cards
support
Port Multiplication and we realized speeds of over 160 MB/sec
were possible using striped RAID on a MacBookPro! Unbelievable. This type
of
speed
finally makes real time HD possible on a portable computer.
With Lycom filling the need for a Cardbus SATA Card that
supports
Port Multiplier technology, our cup is finally full (overflowing
really, this has been long time in waiting and desp[erately needed). This fine
2 Port SATAII card uses the same chipset as PCI-X 4 port host cards, and
as such, costs a
little more since that is a high end chip set.
But
it is an excellent choice to add huge speedy storage capability to your portable
cardbus euipped computer.
Lycom also has provided us a superior Firewire 800 card. With 2 FW800 ports
and one standard FW400 port, it will give you sufficient connectivity for any needs. Unlike Cardbus SATA external
drives, your powerbook is fully capable of booting from a drive attached via this Firewire card.
